The MK:427 Noise Sensor

with 4-20mA Current Loop Output

Unlike a conventional Sound Level Meter, the MK:427 Noise Sensor converts the noise level in decibels into an industry standard 4-20mA output, which can be connected to standard DCS/SCADA based systems to add a noise measurement capability.

The analogue electronics are highly reliable and operate without any user intervention. No specialist acoustic knowledge is required when using the MK:427 Noise Sensor, simply power-up the device and the measured noise level is continuously fed to the output.

Many industrial plants have a variety of process sensors strategically placed around their site so that safety, environmental impact and efficiency can be monitored and managed in real time from one of more control rooms.

The MK427 is a self-contained outdoor noise sensor designed for long-term environmental noise monitoring. It converts measured sound levels into an industry standard 4–20 mA current loop output that can be integrated into systems like DCS, SCADA or other data logging platforms.

The sensor measures A-weighted sound pressure levels (dB(A)) and continuously outputs a proportional 4–20 mA signal, where current represents the sound level, with no specialist acoustic knowledge required.

Yes. The MK427 is fully weatherproof (IP65 rated) and built for permanent outdoor deployment, making it suitable for environmental, industrial and boundary noise monitoring.

The standard MK427 typically measures noise from around 30 dB(A) to 100 dB(A). Other measurement range options can be provided on request to suit specific applications.

No, the MK427 uses analogue electronics and does not require any third-party software to output noise levels. Simply power the unit and integrate the current loop into your monitoring system.

It meets Class 1 sound level meter standards to IEC 61672-1:2002, ensuring accurate and reliable noise measurements for professional applications.

It runs from an external +12 V DC supply and comes with a 10 m output cable as standard (other lengths available on request). The mounting kit for pole installation is included.

The MK427 is ideal for:

  • Environmental noise monitoring

  • Industrial site noise measurement

  • Integration with control room systems (DCS/SCADA)

  • Remote, unattended outdoor installations

  • Boundary and compliance noise assessments

No. The MK427 outputs continuous noise data via the 4–20 mA loop without requiring any specialist acoustic setup or configuration.
