Cirrus Research partner with Yorkshire racing driver Max Coates

Cirrus Research recently partnered with Yorkshire-born racing driver Max Coates, showing support as he competed in MINI CHALLENGE UK on 26 & 27 September at Silverstone, the home of British Motorsport.

Max has previously been a winner in the Renault UK Clio Cup over the past four seasons, and this year entered the MINI CHALLENGE UK, supporting the popular British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), in hopes to reignite his championship ambitions.

Commenting on the partnership, Martin Ellison, Head of Sales and Marketing at Cirrus Research plc said, “Cirrus Research are proud to continue our engagement and support of innovation and young talent by joining Max Coates as his technical noise partner.

“Joining the fast, furious and technically challenging world of motorsport isn’t new to us, but the opportunity to support Max in his quest to become Mini Challenge Champion is in line with the Cirrus Research ethos and culture in aspiring to be the best and lead from the front, and what better way to promote and celebrate our 50 years than with one British icon supporting another!”

Max started the final race of the weekend, which was broadcast on ITV2 on Sunday afternoon, fifth on the grid. He made a pass for fourth on lap three and immediately closed on the drivers in front battling for the podium positions. Despite his best efforts he couldn’t gain anymore positions and had to settle for fourth place.

After the race Max commented, “This weekend was always going to be difficult following the penalty from Knockhill. I was disappointed not to take a podium in the final race as I felt the pace was there to do so, just not the gap to make my way through.

“I’d like to thank all my partners for making this weekend possible…it’s great to welcome Cirrus Research and our other new partners to the team.”

Max will go on to compete in the penultimate round of the season on 24 & 25 October at Snetterton.

Showing support for motorsport

This isn’t the first time Cirrus Research have dipped their finger in the motorsport pie, as they currently work alongside Motorsport UK, the UK’s governing body for motorsport, as their technical acoustic partner. This involves conducting in-depth research to help them understand the noise levels that marshals, technicians, competitors and other associated event personnel are exposed to.

Last year Cirrus Research also made the exciting move to partner with rally driver Ashleigh Morris for the 2019/20 Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship.

The MSN Circuit Rally Championship, in association with MSVR Racing, consisted of eight rallies at some of the UK’s premier race circuits including Oulton Park, Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
