Cirrus Research continues to succeed in the Indian market

Distronix, who are based in Kolkata, India, initially started trading in remote, intelligent, and real-time management systems. Due to their success in this field, the engineering company branched into other areas, using their cloud-based solutions in a variety of industries, including ambient air monitoring.

After supplying their air monitoring system to several organisations within their state of West Bengal, the team at Distronix found a need to also include noise monitoring for certain projects, and that’s where Cirrus stepped in.

Originally, the co-founder of Distronix contacted Cirrus Research looking at purchasing the MK:427, which is a self-contained noise sensor, to integrate into their systems, but after a conversation with Export Sales Manager, Jonathan Phillips, it soon transpired that more comprehensive data was required.

The solution offered was the Optimus Red sound level meter with an outdoor microphone. After the initial trials in India were successful, Distronix started looking for more opportunities which included some large government contracts, and this resulted in them making an initial order of 150 systems.

Speaking about this partnership, Head of Sales and Marketing at Cirrus Research Martin Ellison said, “After previous success in the Indian market, we’re continuing to cement our name as the go to provider of noise measurement equipment for the region.

“As Distronix move further into industry, including hospitals and other state governments, we’re proud to be able to continue to provide our reliable instruments in the coming months.”

Previously Cirrus Research successfully fought off competition from large companies in Japan, the USA and the EU to supply their high-quality Class 1 sound level meters for the Bihar State Pollution Control Board in India.

This tender, which was worth up to the value of $800K, will see the instruments being used by pollution control officers for a wide range of applications, including the measurement of vehicle noise to meet the increasingly strict noise laws, and training for the sound level meters will be offered as part of the package.

Each of the devices supplied via the tender incorporates the new GPS module from Cirrus Research, which will help to pinpoint the location of each measurement in Patna and other areas of the East Indian state of Bihar.

For over 50 years, Cirrus Research has been at the forefront of noise measurement instrumentation, and as a company are dedicated to providing innovative products, solutions, and services.
