Cirrus Welcomes New Engineering Director

Cirrus Research’s Steve O’Rourke is stepping down as Director after an impressive 23 years with the company.

Steve joined Cirrus Research in 1992 and has been involved with all sound level meter and noise dosimeter developments since that time making major contributions to the development and success of the Optimus Sound Level Meter and doseBadge Noise Dosimeter, among many other innovations championed by Cirrus. Steve is continuing his work with the Research & Development Team, where he will help to usher in the next generation of acoustic instrumentation.

Chief Engineer Martin Williams is to step into the Director role. Martin brings a strong engineering background with him, as well as expertise in designing new products.

Before joining Cirrus in 2012, Martin has been involved with designing audio and visual distribution solutions, cockpit displays, aerospace data recorders and rugged computers. It is this experience and diverse background that will power the next generation of noise measurement technology.

Daren Wallis, Cirrus Research Managing Director, said: “Steve has made a major contribution to Cirrus’ success over the years. We are lucky to have Martin already within the company to take on the Director role and ensure we keep the same level of innovation and excellence continuing throughout our R&D department.”
