The Triax Human Vibration Meter

Hand-arm and whole-body vibration measurements made easy

The Triax Vibration Meter is a versatile solution for accurately measuring both Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV) and Whole-Body Vibration (WBV). Designed for professionals in health and safety, compliance, and maintenance, it combines straightforward operation with powerful data insight to help reduce long-term health risks.

All measurements can be downloaded and analysed using the included Triax Analysis Pro software, which simplifies reporting, visualises exposure data, and supports regulatory compliance.

Prolonged exposure to vibration can lead to serious conditions such as Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), White Finger, and long-term musculoskeletal disorders. The Triax empowers organisations to identify risks early and take preventative action before damage occurs.

Switch Between HAV and WBV with Ease

With sensor auto-detection and support for multiple accelerometers, the Triax vibration meter seamlessly switches between Hand-Arm Vibration and Whole-Body Vibration modes.

It is fully compliant with BS EN ISO 8041-1:2017, giving you confidence that every measurement meets current vibration monitoring standards.

Comprehensive Vibration Data You Can Rely On

The device captures real-time and time-history data including A(8), Exposure Points, VDV, Peak Acceleration, and ELV thresholds. These metrics enable teams to evaluate vibration levels against regulatory exposure limits and implement appropriate control measures.

Understand Exposure and Stay Within Safe Limits

The Triax Vibration Meter accurately calculates the vector sum (m/s²) of triaxial vibration across the X, Y, and Z axes for individual tools or machinery. It also provides the A(8) daily exposure value, helping you assess a worker’s vibration exposure over a standard working day.

Under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations, there are two key thresholds:

  • The Exposure Action Value (EAV) is the level at which employers must begin taking steps to reduce vibration exposure. For hand-arm vibration, this is set at 2.5 m/s² A(8).
  • The Exposure Limit Value (ELV) is the maximum allowable daily exposure. For HAV, this is 5 m/s² A(8). Exceeding this limit poses a significant health risk and must be avoided.

The Triax makes it easy to monitor and manage exposure, helping employers protect their workforce from vibration-related injuries such as HAVS and White Finger.

The Triax is a portable, handheld device that measures both Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV) and Whole-Body Vibration (WBV). It has been designed to give health and safety professionals accurate and reliable data that can be used to assess worker exposure to vibration in line with occupational health regulations.

The Triax is offered in three different configurations, so you can choose the option that best fits your needs. There is a Hand-Arm Kit that comes with a triaxial accelerometer for tool vibration measurement, a Whole-Body Kit supplied with a seatpad accelerometer for vehicle and machinery assessments, and a combined kit that includes both sensors for complete flexibility.

Yes, the Triax Vibration Meter is fully compliant with the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 and meets the requirements of British Standard BS 8041. It also adheres to ISO standards, including ISO 5349 for hand-arm vibration and ISO 2631 for whole-body vibration, ensuring that all measurements can be trusted for compliance purposes.

The instrument records a wide range of measurements including the vector sum of triaxial vibration across the X, Y, and Z axes, daily exposure values such as A(8), and HSE exposure points. It also provides time-history data, peak accelerations, and exposure thresholds, giving a comprehensive picture of vibration exposure in the workplace.

The Triax has been designed to be straightforward and easy to use. It automatically detects which sensor is connected, allowing quick switching between HAV and WBV assessments, and its clear OLED display provides immediate feedback on results. Built with rugged materials and long battery life, it is well suited to the tough environments where it will often be used.

Yes. Every Triax comes with licence-free Triax Analysis Pro software. This makes it easy to download, view, and analyse your measurement data, with automatic calculations of daily exposure values and the ability to generate reports that are fully compliant with ISO standards.

Cirrus Research is developing a complete online training course for the Triax. This training will cover everything from initial setup and taking measurements through to interpreting results and using them to manage risks in the workplace.

The Triax is covered by Cirrus Research’s industry-leading 15-year warranty, offering long-term peace of mind and demonstrating confidence in the durability of the instrument.

Monitoring vibration exposure is essential because prolonged exposure can lead to serious health conditions such as Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), musculoskeletal problems, and lower back pain. Regulations such as the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 require employers to measure and manage vibration exposure to protect employees’ health and safety.

Under UK regulations, the Exposure Action Value for hand-arm vibration is set at 2.5 m/s² A(8), which means that employers must take steps to reduce exposure once this level is reached. The Exposure Limit Value is 5.0 m/s² A(8), and this level should never be exceeded.
